Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 18, 2026

Checker (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our personal finance tracking service. Please read it carefully.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your full name and email address. If you sign up using Google OAuth, we receive your name and email from Google in accordance with the permissions you grant.

Financial Data

We collect the transaction data you manually enter into Checker, including amounts, categories, dates, descriptions, and any notes you attach. We do not connect to your bank accounts or payment providers and never access real financial credentials.

Usage Data

We may collect basic usage information such as page views, feature interactions, and error reports to improve the service. This data is collected in aggregate and is not used to build individual behavioral profiles.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Checker service
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Generate the reports and insights you request
  • Send transactional emails (e.g., email confirmation, password reset)
  • Diagnose technical problems and improve service reliability
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties and do not use your financial data for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored with Supabase, our secure cloud database provider. All data is encrypted both at rest and while in transit, and strict access controls ensure that only you can see your own information — not other users, and not us. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited set of third-party services to operate Checker:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and storage infrastructure
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in provider; governed by Google's Privacy Policy

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

Checker uses cookies and browser local storage solely for authentication session management and user preferences (such as your chosen color theme). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your transaction data from the Settings page

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below or use the account deletion option in your Settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, transactions, and associated data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Children's Privacy

Checker is not directed to individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Checker after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
